Car and Passenger Truck Tires
When purchasing car or passenger truck tires most people look for a set of tires that are fuel efficient, cost-effective, and dependable. How can someone get all of these things in one package? You simply need to be informed and ask your tire company many questions about their passenger car tires options. Wonderland Tire is here to help! All of the companies we partner with sell a variety of car and truck passenger cars at reasonable prices and strive to provide their customers with quality tires and excellent customer service.
There are many options when it comes to car and passenger truck tires. Our Wonderland team will work with you to select the best tire for your needs. Education is key, with good traction and grip being leading considerations for driving safety. Currently, there are three types of basic passenger tires that are available which include:
- Bias Ply Tires
- Belted Bias Tires
- Radial Tries
Bias ply tires or “cross-ply tires” have cords that run diagonally across the tire at a 40 degree angle off the center tread and offer a smooth, consistent ride. The crosshatch design of these tires provide stable tire sidewalls and roll in a narrow, straight pathway. Bias ply tires are typically less expensive than other passenger car tires.
Radial tires have cords or belts covered in steel that run perpendicular to the center tread. The multiple cords wound into one “belt” provides stability and structure to the tire, making it stronger. Because of this, these durable tires have reduced resistance, increased longevity and handing, all for a reasonable price.
Belted bias tires are similar to bias ply tires in construction as steel and/or fiberglass belts are added into the overall construction of the tire during production. Addition of a durable material like steel or fiberglass decreases the amount of rolling resistance, allowing for a smooth ride even in rough areas. These types of tires are often purchased when trying to refurbish classic cars and want to keep the tires as close to the original as possible.
